Audio Drama Debut - Transcript - S01E03

All of the words I said out loud for S01E03 of Audio Drama Debut, my podcast showcasing new audio drama, fiction and RPG trailers.

F/X - Fountain pen writing, and then being capped.

THE LIBRARIAN: Hello there. No need to hover by the door, come sit down. Would you like to join me in a cup of tea? It's jasmine. Excellent.

Now, welcome back to the Library of Audio Fiction. As you might expect, we can provide you with dramas, books, stories, actual plays and possibly a few other things.

Perhaps you'd like a show based on an existing franchise? There's a few examples back here. I've got Space Journey, about the star boat "Small Business Endeavor" and its five year mission to not be sued. Or maybe General Practitioner Where, who breaks the rules of the spacetime continuum, in an attempt to reduce waiting times. Or this one, which is just labelled Our Miniscule Horses.

Something a little newer? I'm afraid I can't help you there. You see we've been having this problem with our delivery system. The pneumatic tube's blocked, and there's quite a waiting list of problems before that is fixed. Annoyingly, it would only take a small tap with this hammer, but I'm expressly forbidden from interfering with the workings. I'm also utterly forbidden from suggesting a visitor might want to have a go. I certainly couldn't tell you to go up a bit and left about an inch.

Oh, look at that, it seems the tube has fixed itself. How convenient. I suppose I could take this opportunity to tell you about these new clips then. Special treat this week, it would seem - there's two from the future. Don't worry, I'll get to those.

This first one seems to be Y2K, which 'tells a story of love, identity and long-distance friendship. It is set in both the year 2000 and 2020, through old voicemails between two friends and the present-day student who turns them into a podcast.' Let's give that a listen.

Then there's this week's actual play, called Facing Fate, an anthological audio fiction actual play podcast. What does that mean outside of being amazing alliteration? It means when you subscribe to Facing Fate, you will find 2 – 10 episode seasons every year in the Facing Fate feed. Each season will take you through a different setting, different genre, and different characters going through thrilling, exhilarating and maybe hilarious collaborative stories. Press play for me, there's a dear.

Now, the first from the future, a show which should be out rather soon, Believer. Let's see what this label says.

Lara Campbell used to believe in ghosts. Now she pretends to believe in them for money. But when her ex-partner goes missing in a town with some very mysterious issues, she may have to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew. It's a paranormal fiction podcast about ghosts, cryptids, demons, cosmic entities, and the fake psychic who doesn't believe they exist.

And the final one, from even closer in the future, Tomorrow, the Void.

Light-years away from a dying Earth, humanity’s last hope rides aboard the Dellingr, a ship on course to a distant planet to start life anew. Follow the five crew members on board, far away from all they knew and loved, tasked with a mission that is falling apart in unexpected, strange, and horrific ways. Are all the classic sci-fi’s wrong? Is love really the answer to everything? Or was this all doomed from the start?

This looks like it has a very short couple of teasers, so let's listen to them both.

And that's that. As long as the tubes don't go wrong again, you can probably have a few more next week. But just to be on the safe side, if you do find yourself wanting to send me a message, best just do it through the boffins down in the twitter department. They tell me the secret password is @AudioDramaDebut - must be one of these randomly generated tricks.

Anyway, cheerio!
