Audio Drama Debut - Transcript - S01E05

All of the words I said out loud for S01E05 of Audio Drama Debut, my podcast showcasing new audio drama, fiction and RPG trailers.

F/X - Fountain pen writing, and then being capped.

THE LIBRARIAN: Hello there. Come in, and help yourself to a cup of Ceylon. I've only just brewed it, so best to drink it quickly while it's still nice and hot. Ooh, too hot? Well, you sit blowing on that while I talk.

Welcome back to the Library of Audio Fiction. We try and collect every fictional show, which includes dramas, books, stories, actual plays and a few other things.

Still nursing that burnt lip? Well how about shows about medical professionals? Let's see, this one is about a therapist for superheroes? Or maybe this, investigations into a mental hospital by some of its patients? Or finally a nasty combination of psychiatrists and the CIA, in a historical show?

Hmm, sorry, but I really can't understand you with that slight loss of function you seem to be experiencing in that lip. Try pointing. Yes, that's a desk. You want to get on the desk? Oh, now you're pointing at me. And the desk? You want me to get on the desk? Well I'm sorry, but that's wildly inappropriate. I'm going to have to ask you to leave.

Oh? You're not pointing at the desk? Just the... stapler? Hole punch? Collection of meticulously organised pencils? Oh! The intray. You want the new shows. I'm afraid I don't have any. Our internal post hasn't come round yet. You'll have to wait.

F/X - Door knocking

THE POST WITCH Pooooooost.

THE LIBRARIAN Oh look at that, some lovely new shows for you. Perhaps we could have a listen to those? Everything this week is already available, so you can get straight to listening if you like any.

This first show is Down, which is a 24-part science-fiction series about an expedition into a newly-discovered Antarctic trench, dubbed The Bottomless Pit. The company-backed research submarine Virgil is elegant, state-of-the-art, and capable of withstanding enormous pressures. The same cannot be said for her crew. Let's play that one.

Then there's DEVIANT, which is a sci-fi audio fiction show all about Dane Armstrong, one of the descendants of Neil Armstrong. After Neil discovered a race of alien creatures on the moon, the world banded together to fight back! Dane just... isn't the best at it. After getting kicked out of the Space Marines, Dane is left to discover life away from the family business and discover what his place is in this world truly is. It's probably as a space pirate, let's be honest. Here we go.

Then there's an actual play for you, with Ain't Slayed Nobody, which is a Call of Cthulhu RPG podcast set in the Old West. It uses Chaosium's Down Darker Trails as the foundation for scenarios, and blends humor and horror with an emphasis on sound design and role playing.

And finally this week, there's Valence. In the city of New Candler, magic is scarce by design. A tech mogul wants to keep it that way. And a magic user wants freedom. Welcome to New Candler, cultural epicenter of the United States.

And that's that. I hope you enjoyed those, and I hope you eventually re-gain the ability to speak. Are you sure you won't finish your tea? Seems a shame to waste it.

Ah well, never mind. Oh, and don't forget, if you discover any shows you don't think we have, feel free to ring...er, feel free to write to our public liasion officer. Apparently you need to address it to Mr. T. Witter, postcode @AudioDramaDebut.

Anyway, cheerio!
