All of the words I said out loud for S01E24 of Audio Drama Debut, my podcast showcasing new audio drama, fiction and RPG trailers.
F/X - Fountain pen writing, and then being capped. Fire gently crackles in the background.
THE LIBRARIAN: Hello there. Come in, come in. Please, take a seat and help yourself to a French Fancy.
And while you're helping yourself, perhaps you could help me. I'm currently trying to solve these puzzles the Director sent round as a bit of fun. It's sort of a Quiz of Audio Fiction. It's got puzzles, tricks, questions, awkward bits and a few easy ones.
We've been separated out into teams apparently, and we're all trying to get to the top of the leaderboard. There's theoretically some sort of prize. Maybe a day off?
According to the Director, the cataloguers are currently first and the post witches are second. My team isn't on there yet, because I've not come up with a good name. I'm thinking The Acquizition Librarians. What, no of course it's different. I've spelt Acquizitions with a z. Can you not tell?
Anyway, at the minute it's just me on my team, because I'm the only Librarian currently working in Acquisitions. But I'm sure there'll be another round of recruiting one of these days.
You've come at just the right moment, as I've jumped forward a bit to answer the last questions. They're apparently the trickiest, so I thought I'd give them a go over my teabreak.
Firstly, "what day is it?" Oh no , did that one on Friday. There we go, wrote Sunday in it and everything. Handy.
Then name an audio drama related to last month. Well here's one about a young adult struggling through the psychological challenges of becoming a superhero. That'll do.
Now an audio drama related to the place you are in. I suppose this show about the staff of a book repository named for a famous filmmaker after the world has ended would be a good one.
And finally come up with one related to today's date. Perhaps this one, a ridiculous hardboiled mystery serial, about increasing trouble in town.
Well those all seem easy enough. Now just to fill these bits in - that's a tiger, a hippo and a horse, then there's a wordsearch...it says the Director has made these unique to each part of the Greater Library. Let's see, find fiction...
F/X - A pencil circling a word.
...fool...
F/X - A pencil circling a word.
...fired...
F/X - A pencil circling a word.
...friendless...
F/X - A pencil circling a word.
...forgotten...
F/X - A pencil circling a word.
...and failure. That was simple. This is going very well. Just circle failure there.
F/X - A pencil circling a word so furiously that the lead breaks.
Aaaand done. Excellent. Now, what was it you wanted? New shows? Hmm, I could probably dig up a few trailers for you. Even though you were no help whatsoever with this quiz.
Let's see...this first one is We Never Left, a gothic audio drama about a college graduate who returns to her small town and confronts the mysterious curse that resides in it.

Then there's ConSensual, described as romance for riot grrrls. Join us for season one, Ten Week Turnabout, a contemporary romance story featuring a strong heroine in New York City and her small town turnabout date from the life she thought she left behind.
[CLIP - ConSensual]
Then Craiglockhart. It's WW1 - 1917. When David Allister, a facially disfigured war hero, writes a biting condemnation of the war, he is placed in the care of Dr. Ethan Drury at Craiglockhart mental hospital until he agrees to publish a retraction. While there, he meets Arthur Bridgland, a shell-shocked soldier obsessed with returning to battle after having been labeled a coward. David delights in tormenting Arthur until he meets and falls in love with Arthur’s suffragette sister, Lucy.

And finally POD115. A Nevada college podcast is disrupted by bizarre signals, leading its student crew to an unearthly and horrifying discovery deep in the desert.

Right, that's your lot for this week. Come back next week for some more shows and maybe another quiz? The Director says they're considering doing them in the bar next time, though unfortunately I'm somewhat forbidden to go in there at the minute. Maybe keep an eye on our Twitter feed for any social events. It's @AudioDramaDebut.
Anyway, cheerio!
