An overachieving salaryman, foolish enough to doubt the existence of god, gets his arse kicked back to (not) WWI/II (honest!) to learn the value of faith in trying circumstances. It seems like god has it in for our poor protagonist, putting him into a wildly different body and possibly causing the world war just to try and kill off the poor chap/tiny girl.
I was initially expecting more "oh no, where've my bits gone", but the protagonist pretty much runs headlong into his new situation and proves himself highly competent. The "evil" of the title is a little tricky. He's not necessarily evil, but more brings an efficiency that the others lack, with both his ambition (to survive, and kill god - okay, maybe a little evil) and his future knowledge of how events unfolded in the "past".
Also the odd techno theme is definitely growing on me. Will be interesting to see where this one goes.
