Glen Cook - Red Iron Nights

The most recent of my reads in this slightly odd series, this book involves Garrett wrestling with a string of murders, involving a particular type of girl (luckily not his favoured redheads).

This series is an interesting combination of the noir detective and a high fantasy setting and has been used as the metric against others are measured.

It doesn't feel very innovative, as it's been running quite a long time, but it's got wonderful characters and the plot rattles along. It sets up a delightful atmosphere and maintains it throughout.
