Another(!) Godzilla film. Good, actually. Was mildly confused initially when the monster they were concerned about turned out to be Cloverfield, not Godzilla, but he turned up eventually and did big lizard fighting, which really was all I was expecting.
The human subplot was entirely pointless, but I did enjoy the Admiral chappy. Lizard effects were good, especially the radioactive fire breath. And it was this film that taught me that you apparently spell Godzilla's roar "Skreeonk". So there's that.
The girl's thoughts (other than "holy shit, did that breathe fire?"):
"For a film about punching giant monsters, surprisingly little content in terms of giant monsters. That said it was an excellent reintroduction to the Godzilla franchise. Bonus points for the shoutouts and use of Ken Watanabe."
Recommended.
