Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Vol. 1

I picked this up because I had a quick look at the anime, (see here) and while I wasn't entirely impressed by the execution, I'm still a sucker for a fantasy world. This is a relatively simple little book, with the usual setup and devices, but it has enough charm to maintain my interest throughout it. It's enough that I'm going to keep with the series.

It follows the exploits of Bell Cranel, an adventurer who investigates the Dungeon, a deep space under the city, which contains a range of monsters. Bell is determined to win the love of Aiz, a beautiful elf adventurer, who unfortunately is significantly stronger than he is. Luckily, his experience gains are tied to his "desire" (by which I mean pervy lust), and he has plenty of that.

In his pursuit of the various women who occupy the world (including his patron, the goddess Hestia, a loli, yes, I know...) he has a fair bit of excitement, involving death and destruction. Not a bad start to the series. Think I'll stick with it.

Recommended.
