It appears to be the year of monster girls. And monster boys. And monster androgynous? Anyway, there's a school for monsters. All monsters this time, with no hapless humans trying to look after/sleep with them. Based on the history lesson, it seems like humans never evolved in this world, but instead monsters did.
So there's a bit of a range of monster types, including angels, demons, cats, sheep, dogs, maybe rabbits and the main character being a centaur. There were apparently tiger-people, but they went extinct. Which is a bit grim for what I thought was a light show.
That appears to be the main theme of this anime actually, looking at the more realistic side of a world of demi-monsters. As an example, the first episode contains a bit more about centaur toilet habits than I really needed to know. It's not just the main characters though, as the world itself is drawn more completely than commonly seen, and has surprisingly grim depths.
The world seems to have trouble with equality of sorts, with the need for strict non-discrimination laws, and what look quite a lot like the "secret police" checking the content of school lessons. Also, when school children say "we shouldn't even be talking about this", you have to wonder what sort of magical monster world has thoughtcrime in it. And correctional clinics? Good lord.
So in this world of socio-political nightmare, we have the children putting on a school play. With directing from the class president, who is literally an angel. And there's all sorts of panicking about kissing and scene changes. Which allows the ensemble to show off reasonably well. As much as the show is named after the main centaur, it seems to be quite a wide cast.
And there's really quite a range of things going on in this, as it's one of those half and half shows, with about twelve minutes dedicated to a single topic, which has included theatre, P.E. classes and the exploitation of child models. Also now swimsuits, because you can't not have that with schoolkids.
We'll see whether this leaps off a cliff or not. It might go mental, or end up boring like the Daily Life with Monster Girls one. Going to stick with it for now though. If only because there is an impressive amount of school children being tiny dicks. And massively obsessed with breast size. Never realised teenage girls got this jealous about that.
