This is rather delightful. The story of a recently released prisoner, out on license, who worms his way into the home of his (less than pleased) son, and sets up his ankle tag in such a way as to make it impossible to extricate him.
This rather clashes with his son's (and wife's) comfy antenatal life, especially given his father is an impressive fraudster, and the rest of the "antenatal support network" are the typical middle-class targets.
The middle-class skewering is strong with this one, with a rather withering attack on the fear of dips, and the weirdly persistent inability to eat anything. It had me rolling in the aisles (don't ask, I live in a weird flat,) more than once. Well definitely be enjoying more of this. Plus, it's more Elis James, and I always enjoy him.
I'm hoping though that the series drifts away from the archetypes I can see forming in Episode 1, that is the annoyed but ineffectual "boring" son, who is always outplayed by the charming but slightly dangerous father, and ignored by the overly forgiving wife. We'll see.
One for the fans of comedies in which elecronic tagging systems are confused with wi-fi. No, they don't put the password on the back.
Highly recommended.
