Ah, the irascible writer is once again back on the wireless, being annoyed by more or less everything. He is still a grumpy oik, living an ongoing hand to mouth existence, in a manner such that you're never quite sure how he's not dead yet.
That is sort of the problem with this series, in that the status quo is never disrupted far enough to allow any growth. Changes occur in the cast, but these seem to mainly be replacements as people move on, rather than an evolution of the world in general. The writing class are now volunteers in a charity shop, but still all hanging around together.
Although I am impressed by the change in Ping in this episode. She appears to now be running the agency, and is apparently doing a fairly successful job of it, though she might be outpaced by the new Maggie, who is impressively competent. Ed does seem to be most useful when ordered about by a matronly figure, but I am already waiting to see how he annoys her enough that she vanishes.
Still, I'm going to keep listening to it. That might be habit, but there's always enough enjoyment in it that I find myself chuckling along. I'm just always waiting for some improvement in Ed's approach to things. I know, I know, sitcom, it's not likely. But maybe it needs it.
Recommended.
