Daimdaler: Prince vs Penguin Empire

What do you do when an evil Penguin Empire attacks the earth with giant robots? You obviously climb into your own giant robot, power it with horny teenagers and go to battle.

The giant robot in this case is the Daimdaler, and the horny teenagers are Koichi Madanbashi and Kyoko Sonan.

Why horny teenagers? Because the Daimdaler is powered by HiERo (highly erogenous) particles, of which Koichi has a significant supply, and he can "express" them to power the robot only through arousal, helped along by Kyoko, who does the actual piloting.

Yeah, it's basically porn.

I really should have guessed from this opening.

There is obviously a lot of groping and business nudity, (It's not casual nudity, they're at work. The nudity is entirely valid in this context. Honest.) but I stuck around for the hilarious dialogue. This is one of those shows where they've aimed for comedy and hit it pretty well.

The premise is naturally rather stupid, as the human sized evil penguins (and their over-sized "front tails") are remarkably humanised. Perhaps exemplified by their deadliest pair of penguin commandos, Michael and Dennis. There's also Steve, Bob, Dave, I love they've avoided going over the top for once.

"Shall we give the robot a cool catchphrase?" "No, it can just say pengwing over and over like it's doing a Cumberbatch impression."

Though the heroes aren't much better, seeming to have all of their important meetings in showers and being run by Admin, a parody of the usual glasses-wearing boss type, who is finally allowed to talk about how silly all this is.

His dry wit gives some of the best dialogue, though there's a lot going on. A couple of highlights:

"I don't explain my vague sayings, I just say them."

"So this is what daddy issues look like."

"Ohhhh, the pornography." (Imagine you're watching a collapsing blimp.)

To be fair to the pornography though, it is quite important to the plot. Our Hi-ERo supplier needs to be forever pushing the envelope of lewd, in order to produce ever more powerful particles. This is not an excuse for filth.

Ooh, look, filth!

I can't call it high art, but it's stupid fun, and I watched the entire thing pretty damn quickly.
