Again!!

Looks like time travel is still the theme of the day.

Imamura, high school delinquent, and Aki, all star student, are having a quiet graduation day, until they happen to fall down some stairs and die.

Luckily, they wake up (slightly less than) three years earlier, on the first day of high school, a little younger, a little less hairy, and with smaller boobs.

And so begins a tale of people attempting to set right what they did wrong first time round. Imamura had a miserable time at high school, making no friends and being horribly lonely, so will now spend time being social and joining clubs. (Like the Ouendan club. More on this later.) Whereas Aki, who had a fun romantic time, gets a little bit too friendly, and comes off as more than a little stalker-y.

What's a bit weird though is that it seems like the time travel story is mostly there for a bit of background, that allows our main characters to have a second chance at joining the Ouendan school club. "Ouendan" is a form of cheer-leading, though rather more traditional than the Western style which is causing a headache for the Ouendan club captain, Usami. She is in charge of a club of which she is the only member, so a couple of time-confused students are a handy target.

And so begins a battle of the clubs, between the failing Ouendan and the wildly succesful cheer-leading squad. And that's part of the problem with it. It doesn't quite know whether it's being a time travel drama, where the time travel is an important plot point, such as in Erased or a sports manga. That results in it tending to drift around.

There's some fun characters in here, mostly the two club captains (as well as Usami, the cheer-leading captain Tamaki is delightfully bitchy), but the overall plot doesn't really grab me. I highly doubt I'll pick up volume 2.
