Ray Moss: No Stone Unturned

Bit more Radio 1 comedy. Technically another podcast, but I've decided to include all the BBC ones into Radio. Seems a better place for them.

This is one of those spoof investigation programmes in the style of Delve Special, with Benjamin Partridge as Ray Moss, investigating terrible crimes, like the weatherman who once took off his top, or the woman who lost a million clubcard points.

Moss is in the usual mode, being enthusiastic but generally a bit incompetent. He discovers a range of silliness, including a Home and Away parody that has a crab infestation, and an economy that depends on clubcard points.

The premise is intentionally silly, hopefully giving the comedy a fair bit of space to work, but I found it a bit lacking. Some of the jokes either run on a bit too long, or fail to land properly, and the plot, such as it is, doesn't really hold interest.

Characters don't tend to be too appealing either, with Moss mostly too useless to be sympathetic, and his wife too hectoring to make her more rational viewpoint truly appealing. The "expert guests" are variable, but I just couldn't stand the main victim of the second episode (the one who lost her clubcard points).

I also found myself more annoyed than I should be by the "Please like and subscribe" begging at the end of the programme. Sure, it attempted to put a bit of a spin on it, but that begging for attention I've always found foolish.

Potentially good idea, but fails in execution. Will not be listening to the rest of it.
