November 2018 Book Releases

This is a list of the new and upcoming science fiction and fantasy book releases this month, sorted into the various types. Click through for each category.

(Note, this list covers the UK and the US, so I'll give the earliest date at which it's out in both, except where they're off by months or more, when you might see repeats. Also, hopefully obviously, not read many of these yet, though certain ones are on pre-order/my "to be read" list. Book reviews may come later.)

What are you going to add to your TBR list this month?

The Lovecraft Squad: Dreaming - Stephen Jones

The Armies of the Night are rising. Such clandestine cults as the Olde Fellowes and the Esoteric Order of Dagon, who worship a group of ancient deities called the Great Old Ones, are harnessing occult powers to open the doorways to the Dreamscape and other dimensions beyond space and time.

Now something big is coming―something that is already sowing the seeds of madness and chaos into the psyche of the world―and only the agents of the Human Protection League stand between this rising tide of evil and the enslavement and eventual destruction of the human race itself . . .

Set against such historic events as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, San Francisco’s “Summer of Love,” the first Moon landing, the rise of the Civil Rights Movement, and the Watergate break-in, the dedicated members of the Lovecraft Squad battle supernatural threats all across the world―and from beyond the stars.

The Dinosaur Tourist - Caitlin R. Kiernan

Almost nothing is only what it seems to be at first glance. Appearances can be deceiving and first impressions often lead us disastrously astray. If we're not careful, assumption and expectation can betray us all the way to madness and death and damnation. In The Dinosaur Tourist, Caitlín R. Kiernan's fifteenth collection of short fiction, nineteen tales of the unexpected and the uncanny explore that treacherous gulf between what we suppose the world to be and what might actually be waiting out beyond the edges of our day-to-day experience. A mirror may be a window into another time. A cat may be our salvation. Your lover may be a fabulous being. And a hitchhiker may turn out to be anyone at all.

Time and Time Again - Robert Silverberg

Tales in TIME AND TIME AGAIN include: a marriage destroyed by a time travelling rival, a human waking up in the mind of a lobster after being sent to the future, and a Silverbergian touch to the age-old story of getting an advance peek at the next day’s newspaper. Each story additionally features new introductions and anecdotes by Silverberg that recount his experiences writing for the greatest science fiction magazines of the past and present. TIME AND TIME AGAIN reaffirms Silverberg’s mastery of not only the science fiction genre, but its most ubiquitous theme.
