4/1: Occult Cold Case: The Moon Child Murders
(Dramatised - Thriller)
In the 1980s a silly comedy was made called Night Beach Nurses. It was a medium budget summer movie project intended for mass release and to hopefully find a cult following because of it’s raucous humor. At the last minute it’s theatre release was cancelled and it was shelved. It’s only mass release was on USA’s UP ALL NIGHT comedy program. A late night b-movie program featuring comedians riffing on bad, low budget comedies. Night Beach Nurses was just another silly comedy that fit this slot. The night it aired a spike in murder cases occurred across the country. Defying explanation and far beyond any statistical anomaly. Damien Fitzmaurice is the detective assigned to one of the murders and is seemingly the first to make a connection between the airing of a movie and a spree of deaths. He gathered that conclusion from repeated similarities from interviews of victims and perpetrators. As the interviews progress the investigation shifts to discovering why a fairly generic teen comedy was seemingly the trigger for violence and other unexplainable events. Viewers of the movies report a wide range of effects. From odd, vivid dreams of another world, to visions of a woman and a man speaking to them but they can’t understand the words. To creatures speaking to them. Doors opening. Closing. A majestic room full of beautiful objects but they can’t describe any details.

The Audio Series is an abridged version of the novel, “I stand Corrected” by Patricia Asedegbega. Warning! It does not take him very long to realize that something is horribly wrong in her household and he takes it upon himself to protect the human he has come to love almost as much as he loves his food, his siestas and of course the time he spends outside chasing everything and anything that moves. The Rez is set in a distant future in which an AI called JEF orchestrates and caters for all human wants, fulfilment is gained through conspicuous consumption, and personal worth is measured by social media attention and the latest instant ‘body mods’. Our two main characters Preen (a shallow influencer grappling with a knock to his status) and Sav (a nerdy outcast who misses her Gran and struggles to communicate her feelings), stumble upon an ancient phone that has been hacked to allow communication with young people in the past (‘Pastlings’, the kids of the 2020s). Similar to experiences of social distancing during lockdown, Preen and Sav use the phone to ask the Pastlings for help and advice as they struggle to figure out what ‘kindness’ is, how it can help them fix their world, how to escape JEF’s drones, and how to recognise value in things done for their own sake as opposed to things easily counted by algorithms. In each episode they meet a new character, have a new adventure, and subtly engage with a new pro-social/kindness/resiliency message.

4/30: Stage of Fools
(Dramatised - Comedy)
"Stage of Fools" is a nine episode comedy. It follows an intrepid troupe of Community Theatre performers as they mount "How High the Moon" a musical that never was, nor ever should be. The theatre troupe has just closed their version of "Hamlet...in the Raw" that was a financial disaster placing Bayview Playhouse at the brink of closing. They decide they get one last shot and choose to produce a musical written by one of their own. "How High the Moon" is a cross between "Romeo and Juliet" and "Twilight." Yeah, that’s right Vampires and Werewolves. The Fangs versus the Claws. But that’s not the real story. It is, at its heart, a story of the people whose passion is found in a community theatre, and those who give their all to the next show, whatever it may be. The archetypes are all in place, the Ingenue, the Diva, the Techies, the Front Office, and like any classic comedy there’s a wedding at the end.
