(Dramatised - Slice of life)
‘The Day Before’ is a scripted storytelling podcast that examines how Covid-19 and LA’s stay-at-home order affects a handful of Angelinos. How the places and spaces we know as familiar really do play a foundational role in our harried lives. In ‘The Day Before’ a cafe in Silverlake is such a place. A hip coffee shop that attracts a bustling morning crowd in need of a caffeinated pick-me-up, a strong noontime power-lunch rush, and a wind-down evening throng in search of a cocktail, beer and bites. The kind of place where the regulars are the cool kids club you want to be a part of. Where a DJ spins records, street art adorns the walls, and the baristas ooze a cool charisma that somehow questions your own personal style. The Day Before. Stay-at-Home is soon to be a governmental order. A surgeon, entrepreneur, comedian, nightlife manager, and a newly cohabitating couple are all forced to deal with tomorrow’s uncertainty, as most of us can recall back in March. A journalist, who calls this cafe his second home, is interested in talking to these individuals, asking them about Covid, their affinity for this communal space, and the prospect of it going away along with so many of life’s norms.
